Overview:
Get ready for this amazing adventure into the backwoods of the breathtaking Andean Mountains and the impressive hidden Inca citadel of Machu Picchu deep in the Peruvian jungle!  This invigorating short trek is a less physically demanding alternative to the traditional Inca Trail, an excellent trek that will take you along the original stone staircases of the Inca Trail that lead to the Inti Punku (Sun Gate) rewarding you with astounding views overlooking the magical site of Machu Picchu.  Enjoy this unique opportunity to experience one of the world's most amazing archaeological sites.

trek Day 1: Hostel pick-up and transfer to train station for the journey to KM 104, the beginning point of the trek along the Inca Trail where you will hike 4 hours uphill to the archaeological site of Wiñayhuayna (altitude: 2,700m).  After lunch you will continue the trek for 2 hours to reach the Inti Punku (Sun Gate) where you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the magical Machu Picchu citadel.  End the day in Aguas Calientes and soak in the hot springs to relax your legs.
trek Day 2: Rise early and eat a hearty breakfast before heading back up to Machu Picchu for a guided tour with a professional English-speaking guide.  Take all the time you want to hike Wayna Picchu or return to the Inti Punku for amazing photos from a different perspective and explore the site to its fullest.  Take the return train back to Ollantaytambo, bus to Cuzco and hotel drop off.
